This page provides a summary of how Seven Hills Iowa LLC processes personal data on behalf of schools, institutions, and other organizations ("Customers") that use 7GenEdu.com for educational purposes.

10.1 Roles and Responsibilities

  • Data Controller: The school, institution, or organization that directs the use of 7GenEdu.com and determines the purposes and means of processing personal data of its students, staff, or members.
  • Data Processor: Seven Hills Iowa LLC, which processes personal data on behalf of and under the instructions of the Data Controller in connection with providing the 7GenEdu platform and services.

Seven Hills Iowa LLC processes personal data only in accordance with the documented instructions of the Data Controller, unless required to do so by applicable law.

10.2 Scope of Processing

When providing services to institutional Customers, Seven Hills Iowa LLC may process the following categories of personal data:

  • Account Data: Names, email addresses, and roles of authorized users (teachers, administrators).
  • Usage Data: Records of content accessed, downloaded, and printed, including timestamps and device information.
  • Authentication Data: Login credentials (hashed), session tokens, and OAuth provider identifiers.
  • Support Data: Communications between authorized users and our support team.

We do not process student personal data directly. 7GenEdu is designed for use by adults (teachers, parents, guardians) on behalf of children. Content is downloaded and printed by adult account holders, not by students.

10.3 FERPA Compliance (US Schools)

For schools and school districts in the United States, Seven Hills Iowa LLC operates as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA, 20 U.S.C. § 1232g).

  • We use education records solely for the purpose of providing educational services as directed by the school.
  • We do not disclose education records to third parties except as authorized by the school or as required by law.
  • We maintain direct control over education records and do not use them for any purpose other than providing the contracted services.
  • We comply with FERPA's requirements regarding access, amendment, and disclosure of education records.

10.4 Student Privacy Pledge

Seven Hills Iowa LLC adheres to the following student privacy principles:

  • We do not sell student personal information.
  • We do not use student data for targeted advertising.
  • We do not build personal profiles of students for non-educational purposes.
  • We do not knowingly retain student personal information beyond the time period required to support the educational purpose.
  • We use industry-standard security measures to protect all data entrusted to us.
  • We provide transparency regarding our data collection and use practices.
  • We support parental and school access to student information and the ability to correct erroneous data.
  • We do not change our privacy policies without notice and choice to our institutional Customers.

10.5 Full DPA Available on Request

Schools, institutions, and organizations may request a full, executable Data Processing Agreement that includes:

  • Detailed processing descriptions and data flow documentation
  • Technical and organizational security measures (TOMs)
  • Sub-processor management and notification procedures
  • Data breach notification protocols
  • International data transfer mechanisms (Standard Contractual Clauses)
  • Audit rights and compliance verification procedures
  • Data return and deletion procedures upon contract termination
